Portland Does the U.K.
I stopped into the Bridgeport Brewpub for a couple of pints to sooth my soul after work Monday afternoon.  My conscious was debating whether or not to go, but the Monday all day happy hour (i.e. $2.75 pints, including cask ale) was all the convincing I needed. I’ve always been a sucker for cask ale, but after reading a few local PDX blogs about the authenticity of casks in the area...

Killer Tomatoes
I am a meat eater. I’m not opposed to vegetarians; I just rather enjoy my free hams.  However, Vegans—the militant, paraphernalia-wearing type, mind you—annoy the hell out of me. Dear Militant, Paraphernalia Vegan types, if ethical eating is your bag, please read this article: “But before we cede the entire moral penthouse to ‘committed vegetarians’ and...

It's A Wonderful Camera
The other day while I was cooking a birthday feast for MegWhyte I decided grab camera. The goal was to photograph some tasty chomps; no brew photos here!

A Meaty Miracle Part. 2: Dinner Time
Isn’t it a beautiful thing? Also note that magnum of Anchor Christmas Ale in the background. Nothing says holidays like six-pounds of meat and a giant bottle of tasty brew.

Ham. Lying at my feet was a large white box marked Burgers’ Smokehouse.  More reading told me that the package was...

Scents of vanilla, citrus and BS
Please excuse me for bringing up this article a month after its publication. The piece deals with the fallibility of wine critics.  These so-called super-tasters sniff, swirl and spit out ratings that heavily influence the wine sales internationally.  As more blind tests take place, however, it seems that most critics can’t tell the difference between the same exact wines, let alone detect...

Boston Black
A brutal combination of limited finances and frigid temperatures has kept me not only from exploring the PDX beer scene, but also from purchasing sudsy beverages for home consumption. While I was picking up some items at the grocery store today, however, I noticed that my favorite Sam Adams brew—their ultra tasty Black Lager—was on sale.  Since it was well below 30-degrees and I was cooking up...
