Maytag and Me
Last Friday I had the opportunity to meet Fritz Maytag, owner of Anchor Brewing and perhaps one of the most revered individuals in the world of beer.  A was able to meet Fritz thanks to, as he put it, “the old boys club.”  I’ve never felt like I’ve been a part of this prestigious organization before, but since I know a man who is very close friends with Mr. Maytag, I assume that I get a temporary...

A Steel City Mouthful
After wandering around San Francisco’s North Beach in hopes of finding a bite to eat, we stumbled upon a little sandwich shop from Pittsburgh’s Primanti Brothers chain.  I’ve never heard of these guys or their monster sandwiches before—come to think of it, I’ve never made it to Pittsburgh either—but chain or not, these things hit the spot.  Like a good greasy spoon, Primanti’s just cooks...

A Cheesy Bit of Home
It’s been over two months since I left New York and almost three months since I worked at Mama Theresa’s, a pizzeria near my home.  Needless to say, my taste buds had a hankering for crisp, cheesy slice.  I’ve refused to indulge my appetite throughout the road trip in order to avoid severe disappointment because, really, nobody wants pizza from Texas. Do like the Spanish...

Good Things on the Horizon?
I apologize for the lack of updates as of late.  I’ve been soaking up the northern California culture and due to a lack of Internet access, I haven’t been able to post as much as I would like. I’ve had the pleasure to make the acquaintance of an interesting group of people lately.  I met an excellent jazz pianist, a magician, a former psych ward psychologist and a beekeeper.  The food here has...

Recovering from the Desert...and Las Vegas
We’re staying with some family in San Francisco relaxing for a bit.  After two straight months living out of a car and hitting up twenty-plus states, we decided to lay low for a while and enjoy the Bay area.  Not only was it nice to have a bed and kitchen, but also to be safely tucked away, far enough north from the triple-digit temperatures of the south-west.
