Since I’m now a hot shot beer man…ahem-ahem…I am privy to all the inside industry talk.
..well, it’s not exactly secret information, but next time you need some bar stool trivia, here are a few fun facts about the beer industry according to the Craft Brew News.
- 90% of Americans now live within 50 miles of a craft brewery.
- The number of legal age drinkers is growing in the US, and the number of 20-39 year-olds (heaviest beer drinkers), will grow by 7.8% from 2010-2020 to over 90 million.
And last but not least…
- Brooklyn Brewery grew 20% in 2010 to 108,000 barrels.
With all that growth, I’m hoping some of that beer gets distributed to my fridge.
Cheers to 2011!

I guess that the Primanti Brothers Sandwich will be my edible archenemy this week.

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. However, there is good news!
As of last week, I am now a proud employee of the Brooklyn Brewery here in NY! Although I am working more on the business/office side of things now and not in the actual brewery, I am still going to continue writing beer-related posts.
My time at Chelsea was cut short for reasons beyond my control, but I now have the opportunity to learn the nitty-gritty about the brewing industry from one of the most respected and best decorated breweries in the country!
Enjoy the final edition of Beer School that I posted below, and keep an eye out for a new piece that I’ll soon be writing for the fine folks at Beeriety. Also, now that I finally have job stability, I’ll be re-investing in home brewing equipment and plan on making up for my lack of commercial brewing with kitchen-made concoctions.
Cheers to the future, eh?

This is the tincture that became my gift to family members this year. Nothing says Merry Christmas like some homemade limoncello!
