Maytag and Me

  • July,29th,2009 at 12:25 PM

Last Friday I had the opportunity to meet Fritz Maytag, owner of Anchor Brewing and perhaps one of the most revered individuals in the world of beer.

A was able to meet Fritz thanks to, as he put it, “the old boys club.”  I’ve never felt like I’ve been a part of this prestigious organization before, but since I know a man who is very close friends with Mr. Maytag, I assume that I get a temporary membership.

In the guise of a reporter, I was able to get a recorded interview with the Anchor Man and chat about a number of important things (i.e. Oregon, booze and baseball).  I decided to spend the evening prior celebrating with a bit of Maytag Blue, a bleu cheese created by his family.

The first piece can be found at Beers of Legend.  Fingers crossed, there will be an additional article appearing in the Ale Street News.
