Brewing Updates

I just received word about the beers I’m brewing.  I don’t have the space in my apartment for all the boiling, brewing and storage so my buddy keeps the fermenting concoctions at his place.  Every couple of days we chat about the development of our sudsy creations.

The Bad News.

The bad news is that the session Pale ale we are trying to make is at 3.4% ABV right now.  Although I don’t mind beers on the lower end of the scale—I hold a special place in my heart for British Milds—this Pale is downright watery.  Not cool.

The Good News

The good news is that our Ghost Malt IPA is doing fantastically!  We decided to call it Ghost Malt because of the mysteriously high alcohol level.  According to our calculations, the only way the beer can be as it is now is if we added 12-pounds of malt; we only used 9.

Right now, it’s a tad on the sweet side but is rolling with an 11-12% ABV.  The end result might make me blind, but I can’t wait to taste it.
